What is the truth about the dead?

The Bible tell us the truth about the condition of the dead

The Bible, the word of God, is very clear about the condition of the dead. For example we can read in the Bible book Ecclesiastes 9:5: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all , neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten". So, are the Dead conscious of anything? No, the dead are conscious of nothing at all! When we die, our thoughts do perish. This we can also read in the Bible book Psalm 146:3-4: "Do not put YOUR trust in nobles, Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. 4 His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day his thoughts do perish".

When we die there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom

Let's jump to Ecclesiastes again in chapter 9:6, where we can read: "Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun". This makes also clear, that the dead cannot harm the living, like some people think. Because the dead have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun. This Bible truth surely give relief for all those who are in fear of the dead, isn't it? That the dead can do absolutely nothing at all is a very clear statement from the Bible verse Ecclesiastes 9:10: All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol, the place to which you are going . She'ol stands for the common grave of mankind.

Do you know the first lie ever heard on Earth?

The very first lie on Earth was: "You positively will not die". Satan, the Devil was the originator of the first lie*. You can read this first lie in the very first Bible book Genesis in chapter 3:4. Through this lie the devil became the father of the lie, according to what Jesus Christ said in the Bible book of John 8:44. Do you know, that most of the world's religions still teach this lie, originated by the devil? "Something inside a person continues living after death" they teach. But what does the Bible, God's Word, tell us about the question "What happens to us when we die?"

* Satan used for this lie a serpent to speak to Eve. Similar like a skilled person can make it seem that this voice is coming from a nearby dummy or doll. The Bible book of Revelation reveals that fact in chapter 12:9. In this Bible verse we can read: "So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan , who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him".

We are a "soul",don´t have one. At Death we are returning to the dust

The Bible makes clear, that we, every human being, are a living soul. Jehovah God (the Name of Almighty God is in the Bible Jehovah) we can read in Genesis 2:7: " And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul ". So we don't have a soul, but we are a living soul or living (human) being. The same verse tell us a scientific fact: we, the living (human) being (or living soul) are made out of dust. Dust together with the active force of Jehovah God. And if Jehovah God takes away his spirit (God's active force, in this verse the "breath of life") it remains only dust. If we die, our Creator Jehovah God takes away his active force and we return to dust. Let's read this in the Bible book Genesis 3:19: "In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.” So we, human beings (or living souls) are fully dependent on God's active force, his holy spirit. Can we not really be thankful to Jehovah God every single day for making us that way with his active force. Every day this a present we can be thankful for, isn't it?

A very nice, wonderful hope for the Dead

So now you know the simple truth about the condition of the dead from God's own Word, the Bible. Now you may ask: "Is there any hope for the Dead? Can we see our beloved dead ones again?" The Bible can offer us a very nice and wonderful hope! You can read the hope of a resurrection for example in the Bible book of John 5:28, 29.

The dead can live again

Jesus Christ made it clear, that we can hope to see dead loved ones again. According to the Bible Jesus Christ said: "(John 5:28-29) Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."

According to the Bible, this resurrection of the dead will happen here on earth. After Harmageddon (or Armageddon) in a paradise (which means garden). This will be a very, very beautiful time. The Bible shows, that nobody must be sick again, must get old or have to die. So really, we can live for ever! If we get to know Jehovah God and live according to his will. And this will of Jehovah is the way to happiness. The best way we can live, even today.
