Helpful Bible principles: Luke 16:10 faithful in what is least. Original application and other examples

Helpful Bible principles

In the Bible we can read many principles, which are helpful in life. Let‘s take for example Jesus words in the Bible book Luke, chapter 16, verse 10.

Luke 16:10… Faithful in what is least

Jesus Christ said: „The person faithful in what is least is faithful also in much, and the person unrighteous in what is least is unrighteous also in much“ (The Bible, Luke 16:10). If you give mankind‘s adversary, Satan, the Devil, a little finger, he will try to take more; the full hand and even more. Also, if you do something, which is not totally faithful; more can follow. Even if you do something, which is not wrong in itself. For example, if you look television program; but maybe something with a bad influence. Soon you may have a problem with (a little) temptation. What can also have to do with the principle, which we can read in first Corinthians 15:33 „Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits“. On the other hand, if you fight for something, which is not necessary to do (to follow Jesus steps closely), but advisable; this may help you to resist fleshly desires. For example, if you fight to eat healthy food, you may have more power to resist sinful activities. This are just examples. You can use the principle from Luke 16:10 for many situations. But the original application from Jesus Christ has to do with possessions or material resources. According to the context Luke 16:9-13. A desire for acquiring riches can lead to unrighteous acts. We can be faithful in little things or in what is least, if we use our material possessions or money not for selfish purposes. But for the interests of Jesus Christ and Jehovah God (The Bible, Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20; 6:33). To use our material possessions in that way, we can gain the approval of Jehovah God and Jesus Christ.
